About this project

The project is a collaborative effort between German and Brazilian institutions to address viral diseases affecting cassava and yam, staple crops for food security and sustainable production worldwide, with Brazil being among the main producer countries. Overall, the project aims to expand the knowledge on virus diseases occurring in these crops and develop effective methods for diagnostics, to support detection, control and exchange of virus-free germplasm, with the final goal of ensuring virus-freedom in plant material used for vegetative propagation and significantly contributing to improve crop performance and yield.
