The Easy ABS Guides Project aims to support clear and effective communication of national Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) procedures. In collaboration with countries around the world, the project will co-develop 10 "Easy ABS Guides"—each based on a country’s national ABS processes for both commercial and non-commercial use.
These guides are designed to help users of genetic resources understand national ABS requirements and to assist national authorities in clearly explaining how their ABS systems work. Each guide follows a standardized format based on the most frequently asked questions by scientists and commercial users regarding access procedures, benefit-sharing obligations, and the concrete steps needed to comply with the Nagoya Protocol.
By providing accessible, user-friendly information, the Easy ABS Guides will make it easier for researchers to navigate legal requirements and ensure responsible, compliant use of genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge.
