Research interest

• The research of the group „Molecular genetics” focusses on the pathogenesis of leukemia and lymphoma. Normal hematopoiesis is mainly regulated at the transcriptional level while aberrant transcription may drive the generation of hematopoietic malignancies. Transcription factors (TFs) are main players in gene transcription. We have developed the concept of TF-codes which describe physiological activities of selected groups of TFs in stem/progenitor cells and mature cells of the hematopoietic compartment. These codes allow identification of deregulated TFs in corresponding malignancies and their analysis in suitable cell lines.
